EMMETT TECHNIQUE - MUSCLE AND SOFT TISSUE RELEASE THERAPY

The EMMETT Technique is a highly effective gentle and non-intrusive muscle and soft tissue release therapy technique developed by Ross Emmett. The technique is useful in addressing pain and discomfort and to improve movement in restricted or problematic areas such as the shoulders, neck and back. EMMETT uses light finger pressure at specific locations to initiate a gentle release of tension in problem areas.

Emmett Technique muscle therapy is used for pain reduction, posture conrrection and improved movement primarily but also for maintenance.

This therapy is suitable for all ages birth upwards.

We have a wonderful lymphatic drainage & sinus congestion sequence treatment which is a beautiful maintenance treatment for people that are feeling tired, sluggish and a little puffy in places on the body or just simply in need of relaxation 

Our main therapy service is EMMETT Technique which is a gentle hands on muscle and soft tissue release therapy provided by the owner and founder of  Equilize Holistic Therapies, Claire Ledger. 

Initially Claire trained in EMMETT to be able to treat horses but very quickly was impressed with the amazing results for horses that she continued with training to become a Advanced Practitioner for horses and progressed to Advanced Practitioner for Humans.  

Claire is a qualified EMM-Workshop Tutor.

As a qualified Advanced EMMETT Practitioner Claire has been extensively trained to quickly assess and release muscle tension appropriate for each individual's needs.

Claire has had many clients with discomfort in the back, neck and shoulders for years and after treatment feeling no more discomfort and being able to stand correctly with a balanced and stable stance. 

Claire also partners with Simon 'Spirit Owl' for Shamanic Healing ceremonies and with Caroline Pitcher for dual EMMETT practitioner work on some clients for their pathway to wellness.

Appointment times approx 60-75 mins depending on individual need.  First appointment will include questionnaire & assessment.

Longer term health issues may well need additional treatments to enable your body to unwind and adjust.

Treatments are generally a series of three sessions but may be more depending on each individual and areas of concern as we want to be able to get to the root of your discomfort/issue.

Treatment time approx 45-60mins.

What do I need to wear for an treatment

All treatments are performed  whilst you are fully clothed, although some garments may need to be removed or loosened.  

If we are performing pelvic care work on you will be asked to remove your trousers and you will be covered with a blanket.

We would ask that you please wear thin loose fitting clothing.  

NO JEANS PLEASE.  

You maybe asked some questions about your general health and the reason for your visit. Treatment times may vary according to your Practitioner. Your Practitioner is skilled to quickly assess and treat appropriately to your needs.

The use of this therapy will be guided by the specific needs of the individual client, through assessment and observation.

At Equilize we recognise that our own body tightness, restricted abdominals, unbalanced tight psoas, shoulder restriction, clenched jaw, gripping with our knees, uneven weight in the stirrups, lopsided seat, straight arms and uneven rein grip all affect our  effectiveness of our aids as a rider and restrict the ability of our horses to be able to perform in harmony and partnership.

Using EMMETT Technique we can help to relieve muscle tension & restrictions. As much as EMMETT can benefit a horse, if the rider is experiencing areas of tension or restriction it means that horse and rider are not in harmony, so the problems will continue. 

There is a clear relationship between supple horses who move freely and in balance, and their riders who are flexible, and have good core strength. Conversely riders with physical issues of their own may restrict the horse’s movement or put muscles under strain. 

Rider only appointments are only available at clinic in Wadhurst.

Equilize can help both of you re-find your riding harmony by working with you and your horse to rebalance and relieve muscle and soft tissue tension.

As a qualified Advanced Emmett Horse Practitioner and Emmett Human Practitioner we work with you during the stages of treatments to initially address you and your horse as individuals and then we offer a unique ridden treatment session as a second or third combined treatment  to iron out further tightness and restrictions on both horse and rider to refine ridden issues and rebalance you during the ridden treatment.
